Holter Monitoring
The Holter Monitor consists of electrodes (patches) that attach to your chest and are connected to a small monitor that is worn at your waist. After a brief office visit where patches are attached and some instructions are given, you return home and resume most of your normal activities. The system records and stores every single heartbeat for 24 to 48 hours. It is used to obtain a record of cardiac arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm) that may not be discovered during a shorter EKG test period. This painless, noninvasive diagnostic test helps your physician determine the next treatment option, if needed. |
