Electrophysiology Study

An electrophysiology study, or EP study, evaluates the electrical activity in your heart. In this study, an electrode catheter is inserted into the femoral artery in your groin and guided to your heart. Your physician gathers information on the electrical signals in your heart through the catheter and determines the best course of treatment. This study is performed in a hospital with the patient under sedation.
